MAY 6, 1984 — The reigning AL MVP Award winner, Cal Ripken Jr. was in a rough 2-for-17 stretch in the beginning of May. But the young shortstop busted out of that slump in a huge way against the Texas Rangers in Arlington. The shortstop became just the second player in Baltimore Orioles history to hit for the cycle. The four-hit performance raised his average from .314 to .336, as the young star continues to impress in his sophomore campaign.
