MAY 23, 2003 — The Cardinals fell behind the Pirates early at PNC Park and trailed by as much as 7-2 entering the eighth inning. Pujols, who already tallied two doubles, singled to spark a rally. The Cardinals pulled within two runs before Pujols came to the plate again in the ninth inning and contributed his fourth hit of the game. After the Cardinals forced extra Innings, Pujols came up huge with his fifth hit of the contest, a go-ahead single in the top of the 10th Inning to provide what would be the game-winning run.
