JULY 24, 1988 — Tom Seaver was welcomed by a sellout crowd at Shea Stadium on this day for the retirement of his number 41. Seaver was accompanied by his family and closest teammates, and was paraded around the field to acknowledge the appreciative fans. Tom finished his MLB career with 311 wins over 20 stellar seasons. The former NL Rookie of the Year and three-time NL CY Young Award winner led the Mets to multiple competitive seasons, including their 1969 World Series title run.
