Tom Seaver

SEPTEMBER 1, 1975 — Tom Seaver was in peak form as he took the mound in the matchup between the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates at Shea Stadium. The Fresno, California, hurler struck out 10 batters and scattered just four hits over the course of his complete-game shutout. With this effort, Seaver eclipsed the 200 strikeout mark for the eighth consecutive season, which had never been done before in the history of MLB. Tom’s brilliant performance led the way for a Mets 3-0 victory over the Pirates.
