Mark McGwire

Mark McGwire was just one swing away from becoming the first player in MLB history to hit 62 home runs in a season when he stepped up to bat in the bottom of the fourth inning with the entire nation tuned in preparing to witness history. McGwire struck the first pitch delivered from Steve Trachsel and sent it just over the wall down the left-field line for the record-breaking slam. Mark rounded the bases pumping his fist high in the air and shook the hand of each Chicago Cubs infielder on the way to home.
