Johnny Bench

OCTOBER 21, 1976 — Up three games to none in the 1976 World Series, the Cincinnati Reds were set to play the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in hopes to complete the series sweep. Johnny Bench provided nearly all of the offense in the 7-2 Game 4 victory, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two longballs and five RBI. After clinching the title, Bench was named World Series MVP. Throughout the series, the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, native went 8-for-15 at the plate (.533 BA) with four runs scored, two longballs and six RBI.
