Salvador Perez made history this Thursday when he tied Johnny Bench’s long-held single-season home run record for a catcher with a two-run blast against the Oakland Athletics. Perez, who said he was honored to be in such historic company, has had an incredible season thus far, specifically when it comes to going long. The home run, his 45th of the season, also tied him with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for most home runs this season.
