Dwight Gooden

JUNE 19, 1989 — Dwight Gooden led the way for the New York Mets in the 5-3 victory over the Montréal Expos. The 6-foot-2 righty from Tampa, FL, scattered five hits over seven innings of three-run ball and struck out nine batters to earn the win. This effort paved the way for Gooden’s 100th career win to improve his lifetime record to 100-37. When comparing win-loss records at the century win mark, Dwight’s record was second best all-time, trailing only White Ford’s 100-36 start with the Yankees.
