Manny Machado stands alone in San Diego Padres history after Tuesday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners. The slugger stepped to the plate in the top of the sixth inning with history on his mind. On the fourth pitch of his at-bat, Machado sent a 429-foot shot over the center-field wall. The homer marked his 164th as a member of the Padres, moving him past Nate Colbert as the franchise’s new all-time leader. His power at the plate would play a crucial part in the team’s eventual 7-3 win.
