John Smoltz

AUGUST 19, 2004 — John Smoltz, who is the only pitcher in Major League Baseball history to notch both 200 wins and 150 saves over the course of his career, was one of the finest assets his Club, the Atlanta Braves, had for years. After recording his 142nd save in a Braves uniform, Smoltz became the all-time saves leader for the franchise, and this milestone save was notched after throwing a 10-pitch ninth inning in his Club’s win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-5.
