Steve Carlton

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Steve Carlton was awarded the fourth NL Cy Young Award of his Major League Baseball career. At the time, this made Carlton the pitcher with the most Cy Young Awards in Major League Baseball history, a record that would remain unchallenged until Roger Clemens won his fifth in 1998. In 1982, with a record of 23-11, Carlton notched an incredible 286 strikeouts and six shutout performances, both League-leading statistics.
